Assault Offences

Assault offences in New South Wales include common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault against police and assault causing death or serious injury. Other assault offences include those of a sexual nature against both adults and children. Any charge of assault is considered very seriously by the courts and many of these offences involve maximum sentences of full-time imprisonment. Drug Offences

New South Wales has strict laws against using, possessing, supplying, cultivating, manufacturing and importing prohibited substances and plants. Given the serious nature of this offending and its prevalence within the community the court takes these matters very seriously. We have successfully achieved non-conviction outcomes for hundreds of clients charged with drug possession and supply offences, and have vigorously represented many clients charged with drug manufacture and importation who have avoided gaol sentences or achieved lesser sentences of full-time imprisonment in the circumstances.

Common offences involving firearms include unauthorised possession, unregistered or unlicensed firearms, unsafe keeping and possession of prohibited firearms. Bail Applications

Bail is one of our specialties. We appear in various Local Courts and the Supreme Court of New South Wales for bail applications on a regular basis. Mental Health

We are well versed in the principles that apply to criminal cases where a person suffers from a mental health or cognitive impairment. We have made numerous successful section 32 and section 14 applications under the mental health legislation and have had many clients appropriately diverted for treatment instead of being dealt with under the criminal law. We are also experienced in running mental health defences for serious offences such as murder and are well versed in the procedure the court adopts when sentencing offenders who suffer from mental health or cognitive impairments.
